7 Reasons Why Matcha Will Be Your New Best Friend
I am thrilled to notice a recent spike in matcha awareness lately especially when I see more European snack products are coming out with matcha flavour instead of the usual chocolate or strawberry flavour. The best is when they understand the importance of matcha being sourced directly from Japan and is labeled on their products to prove that it's authentic matcha from Japan and not simply green tea powder from other countries. It's similar to how Champagne is only from Champagne, France, authentic matcha is only from Japan.
Did you know that 1 cup of matcha equals the health benefits of 10 cups of green tea? Matcha is also known to have one of the highest level of antioxidants among other super foods. Research says it has 45x more than broccoli and 15x more than blueberries.
If you have been following me on my #matchafanatik page on LinkedIn, most of you should know by now that I have a huge love for matcha and drink it on daily basis. Sometimes a little more than usual when I'm feeling stressed as matcha has a great source of L-Theanine that calms me downs and boost my concentration as well. When I drink it consciously it brings me back to the Zen moment I feel when I was in Kyoto and immediately gets me into a better cheerful mood. L-Theanine in matcha powder helps stimulate production of alpha brain waves, which is considered to be a sign of mental relaxation.
Other than that matcha also increases your metabolism rate and helps you burn calories 4 times than normal! Of course that is if you consume it in it's purest form without any sugar or milk added. My tendency to indulge in matcha in a more sinful way, like in forms of pastries and cookies, was one of the starting point of my deep dive into the world of matcha.
The other reason is that matcha contains significantly more caffeine than any other tea which would lead to me lying awake the whole night if I were to consume matcha in the evening. This feature makes matcha the best healthy alternative to coffee for people who need their caffeine boost in the morning. The caffeine content in matcha gives you a longer concentration of 4 to 6 hours as compared to coffee that gives you a bolt of energy for 1 to 2 hours, followed by a jittery crash and sweaty palpitations.
Once every 3 months I go on a detox cleanse for 3 days to maintain and increase my health and notices that there is always matcha in my detox packages. After some research, I realised that matcha is also great for detox as it contains a high concentration of chlorophyll, which helps eliminate toxins from the body. Matcha has also been proven to lower bad cholesterol, whilst reducing inflammation and oxidation to help maintain your youth for longer.
After reading all these benefits of matcha's superpower, I sure hope it entices you to join in the matcha community at #matchafanatik to build a bigger healthier happier lifestyle!
